Good morning.
We have all had days when life seems too much. What goes through your mind when it feels like you are suffocating under the weight of life's challenges?
Job faced the worst. The devil threw everything he could at Job, without taking his life. When his friends seemed to contradict him and his wife told him to "Curse God and die!” (Job 2:9) Job had hope. "Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him; I will surely defend my ways to his face." (Job 13:15)
Paul was reminded of what we should be holding onto when we are feeling overwhelmed. “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me." (2 Corinthians 12:9)
I, Mike, am reminded of the hymn we used to sing.
"When peace like a river attendeth my way
When sorrows like sea billows roll
Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say
It is well, it is well with my soul
It is well (it is well)
With my soul (with my soul)
It is well, it is well with my soul"
Today, if you are feeling overwhelmed, remember: "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf."
(Hebrews 6:19-20)
